The Challenge

The Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) asked Dogma to pitch for the development of Community Service Announcements (CSAs) for 2009 International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) and National Disability Awards. IDPwD is part of worldwide celebrations that bring together people with disability and the wider community.

FaHCSIA required two CSAs, communicated through TV commercials, radio and press advertisements and posters to increase awareness and participation in IDPwD and increase nominations for the 2009 National Disability Awards.

The Solution

Dogma won the competitive pitch to create the new CSAs. Dogma utilised an animated approach that leveraged the colours and elements from the existing IDPwD and National Disability Awards logos and brands. Mindful that disability comes in many forms and that society can no longer generalise about what disability looks like, we melded together a typographic 3D and 2D animation that created fun, bright, optimistic CSAs. FaHCSIA can utilise the creative again in years to come, as the animation does not date the project. Dogma undertook all production  including animation, voiceovers and editing in-house, through their full production facilities.

The Results

The IDPwD CSAs were launched in May 2009. The CSAs have been positively received and nominations increased from the previous year. The National Disability Awards are held at the end of 2009.
